Camps in 2009

website2009morningstargroupOur camps were great this summer also. The first week we held a team- and teepee building camp. Jim Swanner, a natural horsemanship trainer was our guest. Two of his students, Garnett and Lori accompanied him. It has been an amazing experience to see how Jim was working with our horses! There were always some enthralled young people around the round pen who were watching and learning the basics of the “horse language”. We set up the teepees with hard work but there was also time for riding and discussions. By the end of the week we became a real team. We celebrated the fourth of July together to honor our American guests. The campers arrived for the next week.  Totally there were almost fifty of us at the ranch. Unfortunately the second night a big storm proved that out teepees are not waterproof, at 11pm we had to rescue 24 soaking children along with their bags and beddings. Hats off for the staff members and campers who showed that they really could work together. Eszti and Gabi lead the Riding Lessons but the other staff members were also there to help them. Professor Walter Hecker also visited us and gave us an exciting lecture on horses, his faith, and life. Miki lead the group into the secrets of archery with the help of Peti.  My wife, Gabi was a real “mother” of the camp and besides the delicious meals she had an eye for all the children, sometimes for the adults as well. Balint and Bogi took care of all the problems of the campers, and lead the groups they have been responsible for. The Bible studies, the discussions were great and as Gergo was leading worship with his guitar, many of us got closer to God. As we always do, in the end of the exciting week we invited the parents for family day and a mini rodeo. The goulash soup that was prepared for more than a hundred people was delicious! After the horse and archery show, the group presented their new line dance knowledge. We closed our camp with thanksgiving to God and filled up with experiences. (We would like to have some real waterproof teepees made for next year…)
