Story of the Ranch

Our daughter, Eszti was 14 years old when we decided that we would let her take riding lessons seriously. Even though both Gabi and I love animals, but since we grew up in the city we did not have the chance to get to know horses.

Two days after Eszti’s first riding lesson we were the proud owners of Muszta. The kindness and excited happiness of the two years old recently gelded colt captured our whole family. Since this our weekends changed and we got more and more involved in this new world.

After a busy with work, exhausting time period we were traveling to the countryside, through the Hungarian prairie. This was the time when we first thought that it would be nice to buy a ranch where we could relax, build up, and fill up in the nature. We found what we wished for in Lajosmizse. We immediately felt at home ourselves at the small ranch surrounded by woods.

The spring breaks and the weeks during summer that we spent at the ranch changed our family; we started to see the little joyful things in the nature and in the family life that we would just rush through earlier. One year during our summer vacation the sun was shining. The radio said every day “the good weather would continue”. Good weather?! Burned out fields, dry plants. The cow of our neighbors has nothing to eat and if it continuous the same way, there will be a big problem. My son started to pray for rain one evening in the middle of our vacation and we felt that he was able to understand something very important that unfortunately many children from the city cannot get. The rain is a blessing, the water means life. There are more important things than our short-term comfort.

During the summer we organized a youth horse camp and we experienced that children and young people participated with joy in the horse and other adventurous programs. They were able to understand thing in a simple way about the creation and God that can be only learned in the nature.

With my wife, Gabi we decided that we will buy a little bit bigger land and there we start to develop a homely horse ranch with camp facilities. Our goal is to live family life deeper, filled with more experiences, creating a life style through generations that can be chosen by our children and give a taste of it to those children and young people who will come to the camp.

Our friendship with the Reinhold family has been a great help to make our dream come to reality. Their encouragement, advices, and the donated amazing quarter horse mares that will serve as the base of the breeding program are indispensable. By sharing our experiences with the Greenawalt family, lastly we created the Morning Star Ranch.
